The Mail is HERE!

Last week I experienced the best mail day of my life.

I don’t look forward to getting the mail really. Mostly there is just junk mail in there. Or, worse than junk mail, NOTHING. Empty mail box is like a punch in the face.

So when I opened my mailbox to find TWO PACKAGES, you can imagine my surprise.

Ohh!!

First up was a package from Rachel, owner of the yarn and fiber shop On The Round (and fun tweeter!). She held a yarn giveaway on her blog and I was the lucky winner!

Package of Patchwork!

Inside was this beautiful skein of her Patchwork yarn, a lil note, a tea bag, and one of Rachel’s cute cards.

SO PRETTY!

This is not the first time I’ve won yarn in a giveaway. I am just that lucky!

A HUGE huge thank you to Rachel for hosting the giveaway and for sending me this beautiful yarn! I can’t wait to use it!

The second package was from Amy at Things We Make. You remember I made this Icord Friendship Bracelet for Amy’s friendship bracelet swap? Well, I got mine!

Friendship Bracelets!

Melissa at the blog Little Messy Missy made me two bracelets and sent me a cute Barbie postcard!

So Cute!

I’ve been wearing the red and teal one since I got it in the mail. I love red and teal and it was kind of a play on the traditional red, white, and blue Independence Day colors.

Thanks so much Melissa!

I haven’t heard from the woman that received my bracelet, but hopefully she is just a little behind, like me, and not just super disappointed that she didn’t get a more traditional friendship bracelet.

Can you think of a better mail day? Me either!

What Gets Me Excited:

Big Box o' Yarn!

Big Box o' Yarn!

I wish I was a tiny person, like Thimbelina, so I could swim in this box I just got from Knit Picks!

Woodland Sage Gloss

Woodland Sage Gloss

I ordered this pile of fingering weight Gloss to knit this sweater:

Minimalist Cardigan

Minimalist Cardigan

Only I have to make it hard on myself. The cardigan calls for worsted weight yarn. But I’m going to wait to worry about that.

CotLin Planitarium

CotLin Planetarium

I ordered this pile of cotton linen blend in Planetarium to knit this sweater:

Dollar and a Half Cardigan

Dollar and a Half Cardigan

Which is actually close to the correct gauge! So that is exciting. You can see that half of the cardigan is cabled, and the other half is a stitch pattern rib.

So what am I doing lining up all these sweaters to knit for myself? 2010 is going to be The Year of the Sweater! I’m going to knit a sweater a month.

(plus that will keep me from starting any of these sweaters once I finish Girl Friday)

Want to knit a sweater a month with me next year?! I know you want to. Think about it. You’ve got some time to plan. I’ve got three sweaters already picked out! Three down, nine to go.

… might have to knit a sweater or two for other people. But, can you really ever have enough sweaters? I guess I’ll find out!

Knit Picks Order

I spend money in waves. I put off purchases for a long time, then the door opens and I buy everything I’ve been waiting to buy. This way I only feel like I’m poor once a month, when I actually spend money, as opposed to all the time. In the past three days I’ve gone grocery shopping, made a Target trip, ordered some Sweatshop flyers, and finally placed my Knit Picks order.

ShineSport Cherry

ShineSport Cherry

This is the yarn for my Summer Sweater. I ordered three more skeins, which means this sweater will take 6 1/2 skeins. I’m not sure it will take this many, but the worst thing ever is when you have to order one skein of yarn.

Fruit Punch Multi

Fruit Punch Multi

Since I can’t help myself, I ordered some sock yarn. The Essential Multi/Stroll Multi sock yarn was on sale, so I picked up Fruit Punch and

Tuscon Multi

Tuscon Multi

Tuscon. Two skeins each so I can make knee socks, toe up, of course.

Now no more spending money for a month. I better not need more yarn for my Summer Sweater!
