<p>I usually show off my knit along sweater progress on Fridays, but last Friday I was in the internet dead zone of Western New York so I had to postpone it until today. But never fear! Not even the lack of internet can keep us down.</p>
<div id="attachment_6144" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 501px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-6144" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/21/knit-along-sweater-progress-and-a-subway-knits-podcast-interview/050-3/"><img class="size-large wp-image-6144" title="make up your mind knitting pattern tank summer knitty" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/050-1024x682.jpg" alt="" width="491" height="326" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lap Pic!</p></div>
<p>I knit the majority of<a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/13/kal-week-3-and-now-for-something-completely-different/"> the Week Three goals</a> in the car ride out east. My plan was to knit stuff to sell at Renegade on the way there, but I just couldn&#8217;t bring myself to do it. The sweaters were calling to me! Here I just had to show off my cute pear skirt in the first few rounds of the checkerboard stitch of <a href="http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEss11/PATTmakeup.php">Make Up Your Mind</a>.</p>
<div id="attachment_6145" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 421px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-6145" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/21/knit-along-sweater-progress-and-a-subway-knits-podcast-interview/103-2/"><img class="size-large wp-image-6145" title="make up your mind knitting pattern knitty summer tank" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/103-2-682x1024.jpg" alt="" width="411" height="615" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Car Pic, Skirt Shot</p></div>
<p>A different skirt later I&#8217;ve finished the few inches of checker board stitch. I love how fun this sweater is to knit! Just as you are thinking about being sick of the stitch pattern you get to start another one.</p>
<div id="attachment_6146" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 512px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-6146" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/21/knit-along-sweater-progress-and-a-subway-knits-podcast-interview/attachment/146/"><img class="size-large wp-image-6146" title="the loop entrelac tank knitting pattern knit summer tank" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/146-1024x682.jpg" alt="" width="502" height="332" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Boob Flap #1!</p></div>
<p>The first side panel of <a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2010/05/31/summer-tour-2010-ebook-pattern-the-loop-entrelac-top/">The Loop Entrelac Tank</a> I didn&#8217;t get to until I got to PT&#8217;s family house in Western New York, so these are porch shots. That first panel, which is being fondly referred to as &#8216;the boob flap&#8217;, went super fast! And there is nothing like knitting on the porch.</p>
<div id="attachment_6147" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 459px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-6147" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/21/knit-along-sweater-progress-and-a-subway-knits-podcast-interview/attachment/121/"><img class="size-large wp-image-6147" title="121" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/121-1024x682.jpg" alt="" width="449" height="298" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Me and Maria/@venusfueri/Subway Knits</p></div>
<p>I <a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/06/14/rockin-at-renegade-brooklyn/">mentioned last week</a> that the best part of going to NYC for Renegade was meeting all the people I&#8217;ve been friends with online forever. I even got a chance to be interviewed by <a href="http://subway-knits.blogspot.com/2011/06/in-conductors-booth-interview-with.html">Maria here of Subway Knits</a>, and the Subway Knits Podcast, before we left New York for Boston last week. <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/subway-knits/id412667667?ign-mpt=uo%3D4">Download and listen to the fun interview here</a>. You&#8217;ll notice it&#8217;s marked explicit content. But I only dropped the f-bomb ONCE damn it! ONCE!</p>
<p>You really can&#8217;t take me anywhere.</p>
<p>A huge thanks to Maria for the invite! It was a lot of fun, as you can tell from all the crazed laughing. We do a lot of twitter pimping, so be sure to follow her at <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/venusfueri">@venusfueri</a> when you are done lovin up on the interview.</p>
<p>More vacation pics tomorrow!</p>

<p>I fell in love with Prince William in 1997. I was 13. My friends and I had a Princess Diana funeral slumber party so we could make sure we woke up in time to see Prince William walking behind the casket.</p>
<p>Looking back at this, yes, it&#8217;s pretty morbid and terrible. But when you are in love you have to seize any opportunity to see the love of your life that you can.</p>
<p>Every little girl has princess fantasies, and having the future King of England be adorable and YOUR OWN AGE just made it too easy to play these out.</p>
<p>Until now.</p>
<div id="attachment_5752" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 437px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-5752" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/04/27/the-tinfoil-tiara-brigade/prince-william-and-kate-middleton-visit-princess-dianas-grave/"><img class="size-full wp-image-5752" title="prince-william-and-kate-middleton-visit-princess-dianas-grave" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/prince-william-and-kate-middleton-visit-princess-dianas-grave.jpg" alt="" width="427" height="599" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Will and Kate</p></div>
<p>If it can&#8217;t be me I&#8217;m glad it&#8217;s this super hot, stylish, adorable, and seemingly very proper girl with amazing hair and boots. Instead of being super bitter I get to just be pumped.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m PUMPED, ok?! Like, seriously pumped for this wedding. Reading People.com, wanting to <strong><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1449409245/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&amp;m=ATVPDKIKX0DER">knit the royal wedding</a></strong> and look for <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/International/Royal_Diary_Blog/jelly-bean-resembling-kate-middleton-auctioned-500/story?id=13374818">Kate&#8217;s face on my jelly beans </a>pumped! It&#8217;s letting me live out my princess fantasies without actually having to do anything!</p>
<p>But I did something.</p>
<div id="attachment_5753" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 464px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-5753" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/04/27/the-tinfoil-tiara-brigade/005-2-19/"><img class="size-large wp-image-5753" title="tinfoil tiara brigade knit" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/005-2-1024x795.jpg" alt="" width="454" height="351" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">My Tinfoil Tiara</p></div>
<p>I&#8217;m not even exactly sure how it started, but over on the <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/sweatshopoflove">old twitter</a> the girls started making fun of me for my over-enthusiasm for the royal wedding. Mainly <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/threadpanda">Amy</a>. The some of the girls started coming to my defense! We formed the <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ObliviousKnits/tinfoiltiarabrigade">Tinfoil Tiara Brigade</a>. We share the most ridiculous royal wedding-related stories we can find. <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23TinfoilTiaraBrigade">Check it out here</a>. It&#8217;s AMAZING.</p>
<div id="attachment_5754" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 472px"><a rel="attachment wp-att-5754" href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2011/04/27/the-tinfoil-tiara-brigade/010-2-10/"><img class="size-large wp-image-5754" title="010 (2)" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/010-2-1024x684.jpg" alt="" width="462" height="308" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Braid Cable Band, Tinfoil Bow</p></div>
<p>And we are nothing without our tinfoil tiaras! Mine is a simple braid cable with a tinfoil bow tied on it. I&#8217;d be lying if I said this wasn&#8217;t cute. I was shooting for ridiculous and landed on strangely wearable! There is a life lesson here.</p>
<p>Since I&#8217;ll be traveling during the prime time rebroadcast of the wedding, which takes place on Friday if you aren&#8217;t quite into this hubbub, I&#8217;ll be setting my alarm for 3am to watch it live. Oh who am I kidding? The fact that I&#8217;ll be on an Amtrak Friday night is just keeping me from watching it again! I&#8217;d be up at 3 no matter what!</p>
<p>And I&#8217;ll be live tweeting while wearing my tiara! The Tinfoil Tiara Brigade will be right there with me. <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/threadpanda">Amy</a> will not. But the rest of us are going to rally and make it happen. It&#8217;s going to be the tweeting event OF THE CENTURY!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m just glad I&#8217;ve got a headpiece to make it memorable.</p>

<p>Last night&#8217;s 2010 Winter Olympic opening ceremonies were a little bizarre. Between the punk fiddlers and tap dancers, the huge Coke polar bear, an anorexic Brian Adams, and a huge torch lighting malfunction, there was a lot to take in.</p>
<div id="attachment_2957" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 409px"><a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/001-2.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2957" title="001 (2)" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/001-2-300x226.jpg" alt="" width="399" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Hoodie Devoted</p></div>
<p>I can safely say, however, that I have never looked forward to an Opening Ceremonies as much as I was looking forward to these, because of the start of the <a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2010/01/15/the-ravelympics/">Ravelympics</a>!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been getting a few questions about what the Ravelympics are. They are like the Olympics for knitting! You enter into different competitions with different projects and you have to get them done by the closing ceremonies.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/team-buttercream">Team Buttercream</a> hosted by the lovely <a href="http://www.knittedbliss.com/">Julie at Knitted Bliss</a>. I cast on Hoodie Devoted, out of Boutique Knits, last night.</p>
<div id="attachment_2958" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 393px"><a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/004-2.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2958" title="004 (2)" src="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/004-2-300x181.jpg" alt="" width="383" height="231" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Cables and Bobbles</p></div>
<p>This is a little more project than I was expecting! I&#8217;ve got a good start on my needles, but that is 215 stitches I&#8217;m working! 17 days? And I&#8217;ve got other projects on the docket?</p>
<p>Well, it wouldn&#8217;t be like me not to try to do a <a href="http://www.thesweatshopoflove.com/blog/2010/02/11/more-than-i-can-chew/">million things at once</a>.</p>
<p>I tagged my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/sweatshopoflove/hoodie-devoted">ravelry project page</a> with the official Ravelympics tag, my team name: teambuttercream!, and the event I&#8217;m entering with this project: Hat Halfpipe!</p>
<p>I was <a href="http://twitter.com/sweatshopoflove">tweeting</a> like a crazy person last night! Keeping up with other Ravelympians and Olympic Opening Ceremonies watchers. It was easily the most fun I&#8217;ve had on twitter to date.</p>
<p>Highlights:</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong><a href="http://twitter.com/rocketslide">rocketslide:</a> Olympic drinking game! Drink for every cable knit, turtleneck, &amp; hat with a pompom! RT @<a href="http://twitter.com/sweatshopoflove">sweatshopoflove</a>: Loving the Olympic knits!</p>
