Knitting + Internet = I get to meet amazing people doing amazing things. Laurie of Knit Outta the Box is one of those people! We ‘met’ on twitter because we are both huge Tigers fans, and our emails to each other often close with a ‘Go Tigers!’. The knitting connection is just a bonus.

KB Sifa Silver Cotton
So when Laurie asked me to review one of her new yarns I jumped at the chance, and a few days later a ball of KB Sifa Silver Cotton appeared on my doorstep.

Sifa Silver Cotton - Knit Up
I spent a morning knitting with Sifa Silver Cotton and I don’t think I’ve knit with another yarn quite like it. You can see in the above pictures that it’s kind of braided together like a shoelace, and when I first pulled it out of it’s ball I didn’t think it was going to have a lot of give and might be hard to knit, like many straight cotton yarns.
But I cast on and knit a few rows in St st and it was surprisingly lovely! I used size 5s and got a very stiff fabric kind of like linen, and very soft to the touch. The yarn was easy to knit with and has just enough give so you aren’t struggling to get your stitches off and on the needle.

Ball in Progress
Immediately all my initial doubts were gone, and instead of wondering what I was going to do with this tiny ball of stiff yarn I started imagining all of the amazing things I could design for Sifa Silver Cotton exclusively. Knit Outta the Box has a growing pattern store with patterns using Sifa Silver Cotton for two pairs of slippers and a really cute twisted turban, but the possibilities are endless. It would be great for clutches, purses, headbands; a crazy wide variety of warm and cold weather accessories.

Pudge in on the Action
It’s even, apparently, cat approved, since I can’t have a photo shoot without Pudge getting in the way!
Be sure to stop over and say hi to Laurie at Knit Outta the Box, and follow her on twitter to find out about all of her fun products. You can order KB Sifa Silver Cotton at Knit Outta the Box.
