New Classes at Knit 1!

I’ve got a bunch of classes schedule for this fall at Knit 1 here in Chicago and as of right now there are spaces in all of them!

Sweater Club!

Sweater Club!

Sweater Club!

Intimidated by sweater knitting? Scared of knitting patterns? Want to knit a sweater in the company of some super fun people?! Then this class is perfect for you. We’ll break the sweater pattern of your choice down into sections, get you on a sweater knitting schedule, and help you every step of the way; from picking out materials to seaming your sleeves. Sweater Club will help you knit a sweater! We’ll also be taking techniques from Amy Herzog’s CustomFit and helping you modify your sweater pattern with your exact measurements to get you a sweater you’re sure to wear again and again. Signing up for this class gets you 4 or 8 class periods of your choice over the course of 10 weeks. The goal is to finish your sweater by the end of the class. Winter session of Sweater Club starts Thursday, March 31st and continues every Thursday evening 6:30 – 8:30pm for 10 weeks. Sign up for either 4 class periods over those 8 weeks for $80 or 8 class periods for $140. Sign up today!

6 Dishcloths!

6 Dishcloths!

APRIL BOOTCAMP: DISH CLOTHS!

We called it Bootcamp but it’s really more like a destination health resort (think Canyon Ranch) without the low fat food and the hefty price tag. A month long knitting intensive designed to boost your skills! Each month we’ll pick a different knitted item and at least 2 patterns to choose from. Never knit it before? Choose the beginner pattern. Want to push yourself? Choose the advanced pattern! Knitting Boot Camp will help you get better. This class will be taught by knitwear designer and teacher Allyson Dykhuizen.

6 different dishcloths to let you practice your knitting skills on a smaller scale. In this class you’ll pick your favorite dishcloth patterns to practice a wide range of techniques like increasing, decreasing, reading a stitch pattern chart, changing colors for stripes, crocheted plaid colorwork, applied icord and regular icord! You’ll have access to all 6 of these cute dishcloths so over the course of the class knit as many as you want to practice as many different techniques as you can.

April 19, 26, and May 3 – $90 – Sign up today!

MAY BOOTCAMP: BABY SWEATER BUFFET!

One sweater – a TON of possibilities! This choose your own adventure style sweater pattern uses a standard top down raglan cardigan as the canvas for a huge variety of customizable add ons like stripes, solid, or contrasting color accents, crew or shawl collar, pockets, elbow patches, and even a hood! You’ll also be able to turn your sweater into a pig, bear, cat, or zebra by strategic color placement and accessories like ears or a tail and mane, or some duplicate stitching.

In this workshop we’ll be working on a top down raglan cardigan. We’ll be able to separate the sleeves, work on a sleeve, pick up stitches for a hood and front pockets. We’ll work through your plan for finishing the sweater, covering the finishing details like ears and practice duplicate stitch if you need it! The best part? This pattern walks you through how to get a completely different sweater every time you dig back into the pattern, and after the class you’ll have the confidence to be the hit of every baby shower!

May 10, 17, and 24 – $90 – Sign up today!
