YarnTalk Episode 12: Season Finale!

YarnTalk Season Finale!

YarnTalk Season Finale!

It’s YarnTalk episode 12 release day, which means we’ve been doing YarnTalk for 6 months! Holy moly the time flew. In this episode Heidi takes over and films between bouts of flu while I’m sick at home and Leah smartly wanted to stay away from both of us. This is a demanding schedule, man!

Courtney Spainhower's Caldwell Pullover

Courtney Spainhower’s Caldwell Pullover

This episode totally renewed my love of Courtney Spainhower’s Caldwell Pullover that I’m basically immediately ordering yarn for. So spoiler alert, this is my favorite Can’t Wait to Cast On of the year. Heidi and Leah pick theirs, plus our favorite segments from the show. Heidi also talks about what’s in store for out little show. Check it all out!

Like Heidi says, let us know your thoughts! We’ll be having a YarnTalk season 2 planning session soon and would love to take your ideas to the table. We’re excited to make the show bigger and better and would love your input! Use #YarnTalk to get in touch. Or leave your comments here or at yarntalkshow.com.

Thanks for watching this season!

‘Thing to Wear’ is the English translation of the Japanese word Kimono, and I just love that. It’s so simple and lovely, and true. A cardigan is a thing to wear. This kimono shaped cardigan is a thing I’m sure you’ll be wearing a lot of, with it’s cozy oversized fronts and sleeves, and swing body shape. Neutrals will make it as wearable as any sweater in your wardrobe, or choose a bold contrasting color for a fun pop at your shoulders and back. Either way you hack it, you’ll have another beautiful thing to wear at your fingertips.

New Ebook! Little Animals: 5 Baby Sweater Patterns

LittleAnimalsCover

After my Knitted Baby Sweaters class went live earlier this year, Interweave asked if I’d be interested in putting together an ebook of specific instructions for 5 different animals. My original Baby Sweater Buffet version of this pattern is truly a buffet – you plan your meal sweater around all the different options and do it yourself. With Little Animals, there is no guessing! You find your animal and go to town.

Midwestern Knits Knit Along Progress Update #1!

I’m nursing a monster cold and am trying to put together Holla Knits Winter to launch on Monday but it’s just in a tailspin. So I’m taking a breather and am going to look at pretty pictures of knitting.

CO Day Progress!

CO Day Progress!

When we last checked in with Mishigami it was cast on day and all I had was a swatch.  That day I was so excited that I cast on and couldn’t stop! I have never done a sweater like this so I was really anxious to see how it would shape up – here you can see I’m working back and forth, creating shoulder increases and neckline increases.

Mishigami Top Join!

Mishigami Top Join!

Over the next week I picked it up here and there, taking DILIGENT notes in my pattern because it’s really easy to get lost! I joined the front and moved past the second increase section for the sleeves so those are starting to be created now, too.

3rd Color!

3rd Color!

My favorite part was when I started my 3rd color! I’m still not sure if I’m really into the purples, but it seems like everyone else is so I’m just going with it.

Next big milestone for me is separating the sleeves! I think I’ve got a lot of knitting left though.

My KAL is quiet unfortunately so I’m going at this one alone for now. Hopefully someone joins me eventually! It’s lonely in our thread.

Mitten Progress!

Mitten Progress!

When we last saw Michigander Mitts, I had a cuff! Today I’ve got a pretty awesome nearly finished hand! Talk about an addicting knit – I keep wanting to knit more and more of Michigan! The sizing looks great, too. My goal is to have this mitten done by my trunk show at Country Needleworks in Jenison Mi tomorrow. If you’re in the neighborhood be sure to drop by!

This KAL is pretty empty, too! Come ON you guys! Stop making me knit alone over here!

New Pattern! Ravenswood Stole

I’ve got a new pattern in the Knit Picks Fall Accessories Collection, Charmed: Whimsical Accessories! Meet Ravenswood Stole.

Ravenswood Stole

Feathers and foxes, gorgeous textures, and pops of color adorn Charmed: Whimsical Knitted Accessories. From cats chasing balls of yarn, to gnomes, to sparkling jewels, these witty pieces will bring a smile to your face and to everyone who sees them. Packed with 23 memorable accessories that make great gifts, Charmed will ensure you’re never without your next fabulous and unique knit.

Check out the entire collection on Ravelry, too. I don’t know about you but I totally need this cat hat.

Loop Stitch Inside!

Loop Stitch Inside!

There aren’t many patterns where two such unique fabrics are joined in one fabulous accessory. The Ravenswood Stole touts a bright stockinette stripe on one side and a cozy loop stitch fabric on the other. With i-cords and tassels to finish off the look, the Ravenswood Stole is a truly special knit.

Aw thanks Knit Picks! Grab this pattern as part of the collection for $14.99 or alone for $4.99.

A huge thank you to Knit Picks for having my pattern in this special collection!
