In this workshop we will take the images you bring and transfer them onto your very own organic bags. First we’ll embellish your design with simple embroidery stitches! You’ll get hands on instruction and practice, and we’ll make a plan so you can finish your piece easily on your own. After lunch we’ll tackle simple screen-printing by burning your image onto a screen, practicing the image transfer onto scrap materials before screen printing your project bag. All materials and lunch is included. No previous experience is required.

The book is at the printer, we’ll have a final proof this afternoon, then we’re going to have actual books in our hands! Midwestern Knits is getting VERY real!
We’re SO excited to be able to share all the lovely projects in Midwestern Knits with you! Above, top left to right, designs by Adrienne Larsen and me! Bottom left to right, Carina Spencer and Sara Gresbach.
Top left to right, designs by Hope Vickman and Melynda Bernardi. Bottom left to right, designs by Laura Ricketts and Emily Ringelman.
Top left to right, designs by Jennifer Beaumont and Carina and I! Bottom left to right, designs by Ann Weaver and Laura Hulslander.
SO BEAUTIFUL, right? I can’t believe we’re in the home stretch. If you haven’t preordered your copy yet get on it! The book will be in your hands on by Aug 17th (fingers crossed) – we’ve had quite a few hiccups with various printers so I’m not believing anything until Carina sends me a picture of a big pile of books sitting in her house!
This week we worked really hard to get an adorable picture of us for the lead picture and this is what we came up with! Heidi also built this hilarious gif of a few more tries. I swear we took some actually adorable ones but what’s the fun in that?!
This episode Heidi is talking about the guy who knit his way out of homelessness, Leah is talking brioche, and I’ve got an interview with my designer crush Courtney Spainhower, who has a rat climbing on her!
Courtney and Flora!
She also talks about her inspiration and her new book coming out soon, but come on – Flora the Rat!
Fire Opal Tee!
What is that lovely sweater I’m wearing you ask? Why, it’s my Fire Opal Tee from last year’s spring Knitscene! Pretty cute right?
A huge thank you again to Courtney for talking to me this week, and to you for checking out the episode! If you missed anything check it out at YarnTalkShow.com and at youtube.com/yarntalk.
