Introducing YarnTalk!

YarnTalk-Episode-1-yt

YarnTalk Crew!

I’m so excited to share with you a project I’ve been working on the last couple months – YarnTalk! A new web series where Heidi of Hands Occupied, Leah of Ruby Submarine, and I chat about what’s happening in the yarn world twice a month and 10 minutes at a time.

This is our very first episode so we’re still working out the kinks and getting the flow down, but I’m SO proud of this! I just think it’s so so fun, and I’m excited to keep making these episodes and getting better and better each week.

My Designer Crush: Sarah Hurwitz!

My Designer Crush: Sarah Hurwitz!

This episode I’ve got an interview with my designer crush Sarah Hurwitz of Knit York City! We talk more about her amazing Eleve Pullover.

My Favorite Things Pinterest Board

I love Pinterest for lots of reasons, but lately I’ve been using it to calm myself the hell down.

Baby kitties SLEEPING NEXT TO EACH OTHER DUH

Sometimes you see a picture on the internet and you’re like, holy shit look at that tiny puppy in a sweater! But where do you put it?! I pin it to My Favorite Things board. That way when I need to look at baby animals wearing sweaters or sleeping on each other, I can.

I also really love finding beautiful and unique artistic movie posters of movies that I love. Those also go on the board! This is also a nice gentle reminder of what my favorite movies are, and if I’ve really got to calm the hell down, I should put one in.

I’m REALLY not into quotes on pinterest, but very very rarely it works, and I pin those, too.

So this is my little ode to My Favorite Things pinterest board, which has saved me from having to lay down away from the internet when I’m stressed for a long time now. I highly recommend making one yourself! It’s really fun to find other people’s favorite things boards because you get such a clear picture of what they love. And I really like what mine says about me!

Giveaway Winner

Oh yeah! Last week I released my new pattern, Francisco Cowl, and had a kit giveaway! I huge thank you to everyone who commented to enter. The winner is lucky comment #14 – Desiree! I’ll shoot you an email confirming right now.

WIP Round Up: Lots of Random Shit

I’m between Holla Knits collections and I don’t have any big sweater designs due at the moment so I’m taking the next few weeks to knock out a bunch of smaller stuff I’ve got on my to knit list. It feels hectic, but my list is getting shorter and shorter so I’m going to keep making it happen!

Baby Sweater Buffet: COW!

Baby Sweater Buffet: COW!

I can’t say too much about this little guy except that he’s obviously super adorable and I’ll have more information about him soon. And you can see more pictures of him on his Ravelry project page here.

Huh?

Huh?

What?

What?

I also can’t say too much about this thing growing here because it’s a gift, but yeah. It’s as weird as it looks. Stay tuned!

Chistmas Plaid!

Christmas Plaid!

Ahem. When I started this post I didn’t think I couldn’t talk about a lot of this stuff I’m working on! This vaguely Christmas plaid design you’ll see more of this fall of course.

A Little HP and Swatching!

A Little HP and Swatching!

And last but not least, I’ve got another swatch swap in the works! You’ll remember the first time around was a wedding gift, and the second time around we made it a party, and it was so much fun we just had to do it again. Our assembly party isn’t until July so I’ve got some time to complete them thank goodness, but I’ll be swatching as a purse project for the next few weeks. And my purse project came in handy a couple weeks ago at Harry Potter Book Club! Harry Potter Book Club. Be jealous!

So that’s a round up of the stuff I’ve got on and recently off my needles right now. It’s a pretty random collection! And look for more of these weird WIP posts over the next month or so until I get a big project to complete. Should be a weird ride!

Holla Knits Blog Tour! Francisco Cowl

Welcome Holla Knits blog tour riders! Thanks for coming!

The New Holla Knits Magazine!

The New Holla Knits Magazine!

I sneaked this yesterday, but the new Holla Knits Magazine launched yesterday and inside are 4 articles and 5 patterns to keep you knitting your way through the summer. Including my cover design, Francisco Cowl!

Francisco Cowl!

Francisco Cowl!

I love the bandana cowl shape that’s popping up everywhere and wanted to design my own with the idea that it would be a nice little pop of color and just the slightest little neck warmth you’d need for a cool summer day.

On the left I’ve knit it up in Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering Kettle Dyed, so it’s got a really lovely variation that’s not too bold, which is perfect for this design. Any fingering weight semi solid would be a big winner!

On the right I’ve knit it up with just one little skein of Knit Picks Comfy Fingering in one of my favorite KP colors – Peapod! The cotton blend is super light and holds the eyelet polka dot pattern really well, and is just the absolute softest yarn against your skin.

Francisco Cowl Kit Giveaway!

Need a cowl of your own?! Comment on this post to win a Francisco Cowl Kit, including one skein of Knit Picks Comfy Fingering in Ivory, and a copy of the pattern. This giveaway is open to everyone! Tweet, share on facebook, pin it, and share on instagram for more entries, just make sure you leave an additional comment for each share. I’ll be picking a winner one week from today on Tuesday may 26th. Good luck!

Holla Knits Warm Weather Accessories Magazine 2015

I couldn’t be more excited to announce the launch of the new Holla Knits collection, Warm Weather Accessories, not only because it’s just downright awesome of course, but because this issue marks the first time the collection is a real magazine, full of articles and content on top of just the knitting patterns.

Looks super professional, right? Laura Masson at Ink Whale Design killed it with this issue, as usual. You like how I’ve made myself like Oprah and put myself on the cover? GET USE TO IT! This is clearly step one in my publishing take over. tee hee!

5 Amazing Designs!

5 Amazing Designs!

I’ll be talking more about my design featured in the issue tomorrow to kick of the Holla Knits Blog Tour, but today you can take a closer look at all five fantastic patterns in this collection over at HollaKnits.com. As usual you can buy each pattern individually for $4, or you can purchase the full magazine, with all the articles and fun stuff inside including all the patterns, for $14.

Snag my fun Francisco Cowl, a light summer bandana cowl that’s got a lot of texture and some beautiful drape in the Knit Picks Comfy Fingering pictured above. I think you’re also looking at my new profile picture! I just love this picture of me – I look so pretty and happy! Thanks for taking such a great pic of me, Leah!
