SilverSpun – LanaMundi Yarns – Feel Good Yarn Company

I love getting yarn in the mail! Last week I was lucky enough to find a skein of Feel Good Yarn Company‘s exclusive LanaMundi Yarns SilverSpun, an American cotton, silver, lycra blend fingering weight yarn.

From the site: The silver content in SilverSpun makes it therapeutic and conductive. Silver kills a number of bacteria, including those that cause odor, has excellent thermal properties, is nontoxic and is perfect for those suffering from diabetes, arthritis and sensitive skin. Silver is also an excellent conductive agent thus allowing smartphone or tablet touch screen use while wearing gloves knit from the yarn. The silver is permanently adhered to the yarn and will not wash out.

No Obvious Sparkle

No Obvious Sparkle

More than anything, though, this yarn is just really beautiful. This kinda heathered light grey/dirty white color has no obvious sparkle from the silver spun through it. You have to REALLY look into the strand in order to see any silver in there, so what the site says is true – this cotton has silver through it for it’s conductivity and health benefits. I know I’m really looking forward to knitting up a pair of gloves or mittens this fall with this yarn over the fingers and thumb so I can use my phone without taking off my gloves.

Knits up NICE!

Knits up NICE!

Surprising to me when I balled this skein and knit up a swatch was how bouncy this cotton is! It is easily the bounciest cotton I’ve ever knit with. And you can’t tell by looking at it, and even by touching it in the skein, but when I started balling it up I could swear it had elastic in it. That 2% lycra REALLY adds some insane bounce and great feel to the usually pretty lifeless cotton yarn.

This swatch is knit up in size 5s, and you can see how tight the fabric is. The recommended needle size for this yarn is a size 2, which would make a VERY tight fabric. 5s is just about perfect for an easy breezy summer garment or accessory. The drape and ease of this fabric would be fantastic for a garment, and you wouldn’t have to worry about the typical stretch that comes with cotton fabric. Or grab a skein of it and add connectivity to your winter hand accessories! It’s a pretty crazy versatile yarn.

You can snag this yarn at Feel Good Yarn Company here. A huge thank to you Laurie of Knit Outta the Box for sending me a skein!
