While I try to keep the sports obsession deep down in my heart, if you follow me on twitter you have noticed that I’m a little invested in the baseball playoffs. My beloved Tigers made an insane run at the end of the regular season to win the central division and make it into the playoffs. They beat the Oakland As in harrowing fashion last week to move on to the Championship Series against the Yankees, which started this weekend in New York.
All this to say that Saturday night when I didn’t have my head buried in the couch and wasn’t jumping up and down screaming and crying, I was frantically working on my alphabet sampler! Which I not only finished, but blotted out the fabric pen marks, pressed, and framed in a baseball-crazed hase.
Last week I put together a collage of all pictures of the letters I was taking as I was working through the pattern, with various instagram filters, making the colors and fabric I chose to work on look completely different! It’s fun to see all the letters together!
I had a ton of DMC floss laying around, so instead of going out and getting the recommended colors for the pattern I improvised. If you want to match my colors here is what I did!
997 (yellow) = 733 (olive)
992 (white) = 712 (cream)
941 (light pink) = 153 (light purple)
944 (dark pink) = 321 (red)
521 (light blue) = 598 (light blue)
245 (dark green) = 158 (dark blue)
987 (gray) = 317 (gray)
353 (light green) = 164 (mint)
701 (peach) = 967 (peach)
If you are choosing your own colors for the project, the first half of the numbers are used a lot more than the back half, so front load your favorites.
I spent most of Sunday just mourning the loss of my sampler. Sure, it was hanging on the wall in my living room and looking fantastic, but I miss working on it! I won’t hesitate to make another one of these if the right sampler falls in my lap. And if you start working on this project you better share your WIP pics! I’m counting on y’all to help me through this!
