My craftcation is going full tilt over here! I’ve been needlepointing my little heart out! I’ve had Alicia Paulson’s Daisychain ABCs Sampler on my radar for years, and I’m so happy to report that it does not disappoint.

Alphabet Sampler!

So cute, right? And just like with so many projects, I’m tackling it in during my craftcation! If you follow me on instagram (at allysondykhuizen) or twitter (at @sweatshopoflove), then you’ve been being bombarded by tiny needlepointed letters over the past week!

Instagram Letters

I’ve taken a picture of every letter when I finish it, and it’s been really fun to see which letters are favorites and getting the most hearts and tweets. Above is A – S. It’s funny looking at all of them that way to see what the different Instagram fliters do to the look of the floss and fabric.

Over at Rosy Little Things you can put together a sampler kit with pattern, screen printed pattern fabric, and crewel wool pack, which is pretty fantastic because the sample is just about perfect. It’s funny because we knitters are pretty spoiled with ravelry! I wanted to see other needlepoint artists finished projects to see what floss colors were used, what other fabric colors were used. I had to go out on my own and make my own creative decisions? Bullshit!

Hi!

I almost pulled the trigger on the screen print fabric, but ended up finding some slightly lighter gold cotton fabric in my stash. And I’ve got a TON of DMC floss, so I spent a long time playing with colors and kind of matching the colors suggested in the pattern and kind of doing my own thing.

The pattern is awesome. It’s super clear, the pictures are great, the stitch guide is perfect. I’m not an expert at needlepoint at all and still learning and practicing these stitches, and the pattern helps a ton! I’d highly recommend it for beginners, too.

This little guy will be finished soon!
