Last week I told you I’m taking a break from knitting to rest my poor sad sore arms after a very strenuous 2012 knitting schedule. I declared it a CRAFTCATION!

Sunshiny Curtains!

First up was to make curtains for our new apartment! These are hanging out in the craft room right now, and created completely out of material I had laying around the house already. That yellow fabric is muslin I had dyed yellow to use as a Sweatshop of Love branded table cloth for my craft fair booths.

9″ Curtain Hem – Fruit Printed Red Fabric

That red fabric I bought for a dress I never made. As you can see, I didn’t quite have enough yellow fabric to make it to the bottom of my 70″ windows, so I needed a hem fabric to add weight and length to the curtains, and this print jumped out at me. Cute right?

3″ Curtain Rod Space

The most challenging part of this project was ironing the yellow muslin. It has been sitting in a pile of junk I don’t need anymore because I’m not doing craft fairs, and wrinkly as hell. You can still see it’s a little wrinkly! Ah well.

Curtain LOVE!

I never made curtains for our last apartment and I always regretted it. They add so much to a room! Especially if you don’t plan on painting. And these are great! I love muslin for curtains because they are light enough to let a ton of light into a room, the fabric is crazy cheap, and it’s easy to dye.

One room down, one to go!
