Fresh off our halfway point break week, I’m itching to start working on my Delancey Cardigan again! And with some unusual sleeve construction, this week is sure to be just as much fun as the rest of the cardigan has been.

Jamie's Delancey

This Week’s Delancey Cardigan Goal: Get a healthy start on your first sleeve, till sleeve measures about 16” from top of shoulder. We are splitting this sleeve knitting up into 3 weeks, so I measured my arm from the top of my shoulder and got about 25”, multiplied that by 2, and divided that by 3 to get the number of inches I have to tackle every week to complete my sleeves in three weeks. I’m super mathy like that.

We are going to pick up sts around the armhole, making sure to read Alexis’s note about where the top of your shoulder is. Isn’t not at your seam! Once you pick up your sts you’ll work short row shaping to get the sleeve to shape the right way. If you’ve never done short rows before or need a refresher, Purl Bee has a great tutorial.

Cathy's Delancey

What is great about making your sleeves like this is that you can try your sweater on as you go to make sure you get your sleeve length right where you want it. And remember! If you are doing the shortened version of Delancey, you are striping every 18 rows, like instructed.
