I released three new patterns last week for WORK+SHELTER, so those projects are going to be knit up in my friend Theresa’s women’s shelter in India. The products made by them are then sold in boutiques around the world, and the proceeds going toward sustaining their livelihoods.
Despite all that, I was really sad I had to send my samples off to Theresa a few weeks ago. Especially the sweaters. Good cause, blah blah. I looked awesome in them!
Man. I miss this sweater already. I’m in the middle of test knitting patterns for Holla Knits so I didn’t have an easy project to bring with me to knit night last week. Solution? Cast on a WORK+SHELTER Lace Striped Sweater with some Patons Classic Wool I had left over from a failed design project.
This sweater is going to be slow going since I’ve got so many other projects on my plate. Sadly! I WANT I WANT!
I also want to knit up one of the WORK+SHELTER Lace Striped Shawls. Knit cotton scarf? Why hadn’t I thought of that sooner? I would love to bring it with me to Spain next week! Alas.
PS – it was REALLY COLD when we had our photo shoot for these patterns! Like 0 degrees cold. It was rough! You can see how rough in the above pic. But that is the only one where I cracked! I’m a professional model like that.

Hi Allyson,
I purchased the work+shelter corner to corner wrap pattern but am having a little trouble and thought you could help. what does it mean when you say “K1 in the next stitch?” I believe the work k1is working it from from back then front of the stitch. Also, when you specify Seed st 6 or 7 or 8 sts, am I doing the whole pattern for the seed that many times? I am so confused. Obviously I am not an advanced knitter but also can’t find those stitches in any of my books. Please help I am so anxious to start my wrap!

Ok…I think I got it all except the Seed Stitch 8 sts (or whatever # is written) so…if anyone can help that would be great!
