KAL Week 3: Six More Inches!

It isn’t hard to guess what our goal this week is going to be. Six inches the first week, six inches the second week and… YES! Six inches the third week. Nothing tricky or fancy here, just keep clipping along on your Aidez body because next week things get a little crazy!

Cindy's Aidez

Keep in mind that when you work the decrease rows at the side markers, the chart of stitch patterns I made will still reflect the stitch count from when you first cast on. Don’t let that throw you!

Stacie's Aidez

This Week’s Make Up Your Mind Goal: 6 more inches of the body of the sweater. Start just where you left off, and by the end of the week you’ll have 18 total sweater body inches finished. If you want your sweater shorter or longer, adjust the length here. We are starting with the armhole decreases next week, so by the end of this week your sweater should be at the length you want your sweater to be from your underarm.

I’m on a roll, now! I can almost work this pattern without looking at any of directions for the stitch patterns. Can we just do this part forever?!

And again, I’ve got more pics than words! Let’s show off some more beautiful sweater progress shots:

Twelve Aidez Inches and Counting! KAL Update

Establishing these cables was a huge task. Luckily that task was completed last week, which left me with six more inches of delightful cable knitting to complete on my Aidez for this week’s knit along goal.

12"!

I did it in one sitting. I’m in love with all these cables! I was sad when I hit 12″ because I had to stop working the pattern.

Aidez and Pudge

Pudge’s favorite part is the seed stitch cables, too.

And, as we are all putting the finishing touches on our Halloween costumes before the weekend’s festivities, I can’t NOT share this pic of Baby Nolan in the finished Yoda ears!

Baby Yoda Nolan and Pug Baby!

Seriously. SERIOUSLY! Seriously. This kid is so cute it hurts. Cutest Yoda ever? Yeah, I’ll say.

Have a safe and super fun Halloween weekend!

FO: Emergency Hat

People say that when tragedy strikes women tend to turn to their kitchens and cook up casseroles and meat loaf. Apparently I turn to my needles.

Quick Emergency Hat

A good friend of mine, also a knitter (of course), was recently diagnosed with cancer. And, like anytime anyone you know gets terrible news they can’t control and you can’t immediately fix, you feel helpless. When you feel helpless it’s natural to turn to something you know.

For me that is not meatloaf.

Cute Button!

I did a quick ravelry search for chemo hats and found this one. I had like 7/8ths of a skein of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky in Masala left over, and knit the hat with no more than 10 feet of yarn left. I threw on a teal polka dot fabric covered button and called it a day. I’ve had plans to see her twice this week before this scheduled post but she’s had to cancel both times because apparently cancer hates knitting.

So, lady, this hat is yours whenever you can. I’m also going to knit you this one, if you like it. It’s more of a wild card so I wanted to check with you first.

And second is The Sweatshop of Love Holiday Party!

When: Friday, December 9th at 7pm

Where: Green Eye Lounge on Western and Milwaukee

We come up with a lot of excuses to knit in the bar, but I think the Holiday Season is our best excuse yet. It’s time to celebrate nearing the end of holiday gift knitting with some beers and some more knitting! So grab an easy project (its dark, and loud, and there will be beer) and please join us at Green Eye on Dec 9th!

RSVP on our Facebook Event Page. It’s going to be an awesome time! See the Sweatshop Holiday Party dedicated post here.

You can absolutely come to the holiday party without participating in the Secret Santa, but if you want to participate, here are the details:

Secret Knitting Santa

Want to knit a present for someone you know will appreciate it? Then knit something for a knitter! Let me know if you want to participate in this years Secret Santa exchange.

Rules: Put together a knitterly gift! Knit something, put together a kit, package up some pretty yarn, buy some much needed needles or a project bag. A good rule of thumb is buy or knit for yourself, and your Secret Knitting Santa will probably love it.

Let me know if you want to participate! I’ll be drawing names and letting you know who your person is a week from today, Wednesday, November 2nd. You will need to either guarantee you are coming to the party on Dec 9th or get me your present before the party to participate. I had a hell of a time last year getting presents to people and I’m not doing it again, dammit! (<- holiday cheer!)

And, of course, there are still lots of fun knitting classes left on the schedule.

As always, email me at allyson [at] thesweatshopoflove [dot] com with questions or to sign up.
