I’m being really good about not starting my Beatnik before our knit a long gets underway on Monday, even though my yarn came in yesterday and it’s so beautiful I could cry! We are casting on on Monday. I can wait until then.

Charvet Pullover

Mostly because I cast on the Charvet Pullover on Sunday. Remember this sweater from the winter 2010 Interweave Knits?

TOO CUTE TOO CUTE

Michael’s, a store I don’t go to very often because they usually don’t have a lot of yarn, was having a HELLA huge sale when I was in Michigan for the holidays so my mom and I hit it up. I got a couple skeins of Patons Classic Wool for $2.99 each! That is Mercury gray and Water Chestnut (??) pink.

I’m loving the shaping. It’s really challenging to keep track of, but in a good way. You are shaping the bottom/side and the side/top at the same time, and I keep thinking I’ve messed it up, but then miraculously I’m on!

Something tells me I’m going to have this sweater finished soon because I love it so much.

Wedding Shrug

I’m also working on this shrug I’ve been commissioned to knit for an upcoming wedding. It’s, obviously, very beautiful, but holy hell is this yarn a pain in the ass. It’s Filatura Di Crosa Baby Kid Extra, and I promise you now that you will never see me knitting with this ever again. Extra fine mohair? It’s like, all the annoying parts of knitting with mohair – fuzzy, sticky, clumpy, prone to knots – but smaller, so it also has all the annoying parts of knitting with extra fine yarn – prone to knots, feeling like you aren’t making any progress, self hatred.

So, naturally since I cast on the Charvet I haven’t gotten a lot of progress done on the wedding shawl, but I’ve got a deadline of Jan 20th so I can’t just pretend it doesn’t exist.

And on Monday we are casting on the Beatnik! I’ve got to get my act together.

What projects have got your attention right now?
