So, you’ve got two boyfriends. It’s ok. Really, it happens to the best of us. The problem? It’s hard to keep them straight. Who like sushi and who likes Thai? Which one is the Packers fan? Who did you make the date with on Friday?
A) Get a notebook, and B) Knit this sweater! One of them likes blue and one of them likes green? With this sweater you can make them both happy!
Only have one boyfriend? Ryan Reynold’s favorite color is yellow, James McAvoy’s favorite color is green, George Clooney’s favorite color is red, Nathan Fillion’s favorite color is brown, Lee Pace’s favorite color is navy, and Ron Weasley’s favorite color is black. Wait. What?! Ron Weasley? Haha. How did he sneak in here?

I just bought this pattern and am super excited to try it! The only thing that is a little mind-boggling is the idea of carrying the yarn at the back. I am new to colour work (and actually sweater knitting as well, this will be my first) and am wondering if all the fairisle colour float tutorials out there will be the ones to best help me? Such as:
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-catch-floats-in-fair-isle-knitting.html
Any advice is appreciated!

Hi Jen!
Thanks so much for buying my pattern and making it your first sweater!
I think the best advice I can give for this is don’t over think it. The link you shared doesn’t really apply here because you won’t be carrying any colors with you. You’ll be knitting along with your one color. When you get to the spot where you’ll be changing colors in the center, you’ll just twist the yarns together once, just to leave a little twist in the yarn on the wrong side of the sweater, then you’ll leave the color you were just knitting with and start knitting with the second color. You’ll finish knitting the row with this color, turn your work and purl back across to the center point again. Your first color will be waiting for you! Twist the two colors together again, leave your second color hanging there in the center and keep knitting along with your first color.
When you switch to work your solid stripe, that will be waiting for you at one end of your sweater. You’ll just pick that color up at the beginning of the row and knit back and forth with that color. When you are ready to knit with your contrasting colors again, just leave your main color hanging at the side of your sweater and pull up your contrasting color along the side of the sweater. You’ll have little loops on one end of your sweater and in the center where you are switching colors.
I always find it’s much easier to follow directions as I’ve got the yarn in my hands, so save these tips for when you are ready to start working your sweater. If you are still having trouble while you are knitting please let me know and I can try to help further.
Good luck and thanks again!
