I was asked in class this week how many hours I knit a day. I prefaced my answer by saying, ‘I treat knitting like it is my job, because it kinda is.’ Knitting a ton is what The Sweatshop is all about, and I want to have an interesting blog full of FOs and fun knits, and I write knitting patterns and I knit them all myself. So, I answered, ‘At least 4, but sometimes, like, 12.’
So when I say I knit this sweater in 8 days you will understand. Shit is getting real around here – I’ve got a move to coordinate, an ebook to launch in 3 weeks, holiday knitting to finish, a new surprise project to knit up (more on that later!), and the DIY Trunk Show to get ready for. I haven’t been doing much of anything except knitting up in here!
This sweater, The Two Boyfriends Sweater, is going to be a pattern in my ebook coming out on December 8th! I showed it to you back in July. Back in July Rachel said, ‘Allyson, of course this doesn’t mean I want you to knit this sweater for me or anything, but I LOVE that Two Boyfriends Sweater!’ So naturally I made plans to knit it for her for the holidays. I even had her model the sweater for the ebook and she kept making jokes about how she wasn’t going to give it back to me.
So, yeah, I think I knocked this gift out of the park.
I knit most of this sweater on our trip to Minneapolis last week. Nothing like a 6 hour car ride, two days off, and an 8 hour bus trip back to help you knock out a sweater. But the problem with finishing a sweater in 8 days? Mistakes can sometimes be made. Like, I just noticed, just now when I was taking pictures, that the pockets are uneven. I mean, seriously, Allyson? You are going to put the pockets on wrong, block the sweater, lay the sweater out to dry, and don’t notice the pockets are weird until NOW?!
In any case, I’m really glad I reknit my pattern. I made some sizing changes that I think will really help the pattern when it comes out, and I LOVE these colors! Rachel isn’t quite as flashy as I am, so I think she will really like the split colors being a little more chill.
Rachel: I know you are reading this, so, Happy Hanukkah and happy birthday. It’s a double present because, well, it’s a sweater. I love you.
Pattern: Two Boyfriends Cardigan (coming Dec 8th!)
Yarn: Knit Picks Merino Style in Coal, Hawk, and Teal
Needles: Size 6

Allyson it looks so great!!
I’m jealous of all of your knitting time. you are right that knitting is your job. I have to remind myself of that when I get bummed that I can’t knit as much as you.
Glad to hear everything is going well. I’m trying to figure out when I can squeeze some group classes into my schedule so hopefully I’ll see you soon!

your sweater is adorable and I think the pockets give it personality!
I want knitting to be MY job. not squeezing it into every nook and cranny of my day.

Salutations to all! Nice website, in spite of the fact that not really all of it is actually functioning perfectly! But oh well as that is up to the actual site owner to repair … Anyhow, I wanted to write about this fascinating new approach concerning relationships which i was forwarded a few days ago – birthday marketing. Evidently there’s this firm which says that all people born on the same date are exactly the same and therefore are most matching. I am going to test out their demos since this sounds somewhat sketchy if you ask me but I want to see for myself. Test it out.
