What happens when you have a blog about your knitting and Christmas rolls around?
I started my mom’s Christmas present this week, and she reads this blog. I ordered yarn for PT’s Christmas present yesterday, and he reads this blog! I’m going to be working on projects for the next four months for other people who read this blog. So what’s a knitting blogger to do?
I thought maybe I could just link to my ravelry page about the projects, but not everyone has ravelry. Then I thought I could just always have a project going for myself that I’m working on and blog about that, and not even talk about the presents, but that seems like a lot, and I WANT to talk about knitting! Knitting everything.
So here is what I’m going to do. I have to blog about my projects! I love it, I have to. I’m going to title the entries, ‘Christmas Present Update:_________’, and if you see your name in that blank, please don’t read that entry! There will be nothing stopping you from reading it, of course, except for the fact that I love surprises, and I love surprising you, and I would love it if you could control yourself. If you can’t, I understand. Sometimes I’m bad with surprises, too.
I’m going to write a lot at the beginning of those entries, so that if you just open my blog you don’t just accidentally see a picture straight away. You will see words written about the amazing project I’m making for you, to give you time to avert your eyes and open another window.
Silly? Probably. But it’s the price of having a daughter/girlfriend/sister/granddaughter/friend who is a knitting blogger. That’s a pretty good trade off though, right? So you see, or have the ability to see, your Christmas present early. But your Christmas present is going to totally rock and be coveted by blog readers around the world.
… maybe.
So, friends and family, this is your official warning. Let the Christmas Present Knitting commence!

Last year I got a hand knitted scarf for Christmas. It gets very cold during the winter season. I find myself wearing this scarf all the time. It was one of the best Christmas gift ideas.
