I was planning on opening this Friday Night at Home post with pictures of my cats, specifically a Pudge Rodriguez sleeping series, but my camera isn’t letting me take the pictures from it. That is my camera telling me to at least pretend not to be so lame.

So yes, here I am, pjed, in bed, sipping iced tea, listening to the Sox get beat, knitting and taking pictures of my cats. I’m ok with it. I mostly hate going out on Friday and Saturday nights. It is fun once in a while; hanging with a million people, biking around drunk drivers, trying not to make eye contact with douche-bros.

Tonight, though, I was rewarded with an amazing Tigers win over the Indians. I was knitting my sock…

AMAZED!

AMAZED!

(Isn’t that yarn amazing? It is the most elaborate sock yarn I have ever seen. It is just doing that! So cool.)

Anyway I was knitting my sock, watching the Tigers Indians game with Pudge and Velma. It was 0-0 going into the 8th when Granderson makes it to first, then he steals second, is sacrificed to third. With two outs Clete Thomas comes to the plate and hits this little easy out to first. Somehow he outruns it! He just put his head down and ran this easy little ball to second out, knocking in Granderson for the go ahead run! It was unbelievable that he ran this ball out! Most guys would have jogged to first, knowing they were getting thrown out. But Clete pushed it and knocked in the winning run! Of course, I didn’t know that at the time.

So Verlander is pitching an amazing game, and is still pitching the bottom of the 9th. I’m nervous as hell because the Tigers have been giving up big innings, big 4, 5, 6 run innings after pitching amazing games so I’m just hoping that Verlander can close this one out. He walks the lead off man so I’m freaking out, but then he strikes out the next guy, his 10th strike out of the game! I’m shaking the shit out of Velma, saying, ‘double play, double play’ over and over while Grady Sizemore is up to bat. Grady has been slumping so I’m hopefull, and explaining this to Velma, who was looking worried, when Grady hits this LONG fly ball to center field, and I’m DYING because I know that is a two run homerun to win the game for the Indians when Verlander pitched this amazing game.

Velma and I are watching Granderson watch this fly ball come closer and closer, and he is backing up farther and farther, and that fucking ball is GONE when Granderson jumps like 12 feet in the air, reaching over the wall, and comes back over, landing hard. And EVERYONE is staring at him like there is NO WAY he came up with that ball when he reaches in his glove and pulls it out! And the camera cuts to Verlander who is jumping up and down! And I’m screaming but Velma is more of a football fan so she doesn’t get into as much as I do. And Verlander strikes out the last guy and the Tigers win. 11 strike outs! Usually I’m a runs girl. I like scoring (and you can quote me on that), but damn. I’m still recovering.

INCREDIBLE!

INCREDIBLE!

… have I showed you my sock?

I’ve been good so far this season! Minimal baseball talk. You have to let me get it out of my system once in a while.

10:04? Time to read and fall asleep, happy to be home and away from drunks trying to see up my skirt while I’m biking down the street.
